Friends of Wanderers

We like to explore. We like to walk and experience culture in places we visit. New places, especially foreign countries can be intimidating, but we’re here to help you plan the right way to make the most of your time and money.

A cold day at Fenway in April..

At a Red Sox game in April of 2017, Christine and I had been dating for about 4 months. I was regaling her with stories of living in Japan as a child and said “I’d love to go back someday”, to which she replied “Then let’s go”. I searched my mind for a moment for reasons I couldn’t and unable to find a good one, I replied “Okay”. Four months later we were exploring Tokyo on foot, through parks, at temples and shrines, bars and restaurants sharing a love for travel and new experiences.

In April of 2023 we returned to Japan for a second time. Our first major trip since COVID, this had to be a big one, and we didn’t want to waste any time.

Think about planning differently…

Our goal is to help you think about how to plan your trip so that you get the most out of your time and money. Through our experiences, we’ll point out tips and tricks, common gotchas and do’s and don’ts of the places we visit.

More importantly, we’ll provide the right information for you to make conscious decisions about what is right for you and your trip. Our experiences are subjective to us, and if you like to read our stories, great! But through the stories, you should gain at least one of the following:

  • A new tip or trick for maximizing your trips value
  • Big picture concept for travel planning
  • At least one location to consider visiting yourself
  • A new type of food / must visit restaurant
